ANNOUNCEMENTS
*PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST
CHORAL INTROIT:
"Let's Prepare," John D Hedges/arr Lynn Kennedy
###
Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletin: (Psalm 12)
Leader: Surely God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid.
People: For the Lord God is my strength and my might, and has become my salvation.
Leader: With joy you will give thanks to the Lord and call on God's name.
People: We will sing of our praises, O God for you have done glorious things.
Leader: Let us worship God!
(After reciting the Response, indicate with your hands for the congregation to stand for the first hymn. DO NOT announce the hymn)
*SONGS OF PRAISE #38 (Blue Hymnal)
"It Came Upon the Midnight Clear"
(Lector only) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletin.
**COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR
Lord God:
Source of our salvation, what shall we do?
Our lives are unworthy of the goodness that you offer.
We complain about our condition
when our wants go unnoticed.
Contentment eludes us, since when we have plenty
we still yearn for more.
Millions face hunger, while we fret over abundance. Through Christ forgive us,
yet grant us no peace until we share our bread
with the hungry and our homes
with those who lack shelter. Amen
RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:
(Lector only)
Though our souls be as dry as the desert, the living
water of Christ may quench our thirst. In Christ alone
is sin forgiven, and our deepest needs are met!
APOSTLES' CREED
Please join me in declaring our faith using the traditional version of the Apostles' Creed printed on page 14 of the blue hymnal.
(Stay at lectern until Song of Gratitude is sung then move to congregation)
