(Lector Only) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletin.

We confess that we often try

to serve more than two masters.

There's our work, and a social organization,

And that person that's hard to please.

Then there's our own comfort, and recreation.

And our pride!

We know You love us,

So we presume we can live as we please!

Yet we often feel like the man

Who jumped on his horse and rode off in all directions!

Forgive us, and focus us, on You!
