ANNOUNCEMENTS
PREPARING OUR HEARTS AND MINDS FOR WORSHIP
***
Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletins: (from Psalm 119:103,105)
Leader: "How sweet are Your words to my taste.
People: Sweeter than honey to my mouth.
Leader: Your word is a lamp to my feet
People: And a light to my path."
All: Let us worship God!
(After the choir sings the introit, indicate with your hands for the congregation to stand for the first hymn. Do NOT announce the hymn.)
SONG OF PRAISE #106 (Red Hymnal) "Praise Him! Praise Him!"
Lector only: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletins.
*COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR:
Lord God:
We confess that we have looked for love
In all the wrong places.
We have sought security in material comfort.
We have thought that what we create with our own hands
Might bring us peace and contentment.
Yet our true help comes from You,
Who made heaven and earth!
Forgive us our sins, and lift our eyes to You! Amen.
RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:
(Lector only)
The Lord is quick to forgive those who truly confess their sin to him. In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!
We stand as forgiven people; turn to your neighbors with "The peace of Christ!"
Please remain standing as we affirm our faith, saying together the traditional version of the Apostle's Creed on page 14 in the blue hymnal.
