ANNOUNCEMENTS
PREPARING OUR HEARTS AND MINDS FOR WORSHIP
******
Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletins: (from Psalm 137)
Leader: When we find ourselves far from home,
People: How can we sing the Lord's song in a foreign land?
Leader: May the distance we have wandered
People: Never make us forget you!
Leader: May God place a song in our hearts
People: That beckons us back home again!
Please stand and sing our Songs of Praise to God #60 from the Red hymnal "Morning Has Broken"
Lector only: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletins.
*COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR:
Lord God:
Forgive us for focusing so much on our virtues,
That we become blind to areas of life we fall short.
Forgive us for focusing so much on others' sin,
That we fail to discern Your focus on repentance and mercy!
Forgive us for delighting in the absence of prodigals,
And begrudging their return.
Move us, Lord, to come in and join the party!
Amen
RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:
(Lector only)
There is more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents,
than ninety-nine who never went astray.
But the truth of the matter is, we've all wandered.
Whether from near or far, may Your forgiveness
bring us back home!
We stand as forgiven people; turn to your neighbors with "The peace of Christ!"
Please remain standing as we affirm our faith, saying together the traditional version of the Apostle's Creed on page 14 in the blue hymnal.
