*SONG OF PRAISE #464 (Blue Hymnal)
"Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee"
(Lector only) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletin.
**COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR
O Lord,
Your law is perfect,
but we think we know better!
Your commandments are clear,
and we respond "Yes, but..."
You offer us eternal life,
but we cling to treasures that rust and fade.
Forgive us, Lord,
for hungering for that which is not Your Bread,
and thirsting for water which makes us thirst again!
Amen
RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:
(Lector only)
May the God of mercy, who forgives you all your sins, strengthen you in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life.
