Lector only: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletins.

Gracious God, we praise the power of Christ
To overcome the power of sin.
We are people in need of this power!
Humble our hearts, Lord.
Reveal the failures of our intellect,
The poverty of our prosperity.
As you have loved us enough to die for us,
Cleanse and restore us,
That we might be vessels through whom
Your Good News might go out to all the world!
