GATHERING FOR WORSHIP

"Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God,

ANNOUNCEMENTS

*PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

PREPARING OUR HEARTS AND MINDS FOR WORSHIP:

"Great Is Thy Faithfulness," arr. Joel Raney

Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletin: (James 1)
Leader
: "Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift,
is from above.
People:  In fulfillment of his own purpose he gave us birth by the word of truth,
Leader
:  So that we would become a kind of first fruits of his creatures.
People:  Be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves."
All:  Let us worship God with our words, and the actions of our lives!

(After reciting the Response, indicate with your hands for the congregation to stand for the first hymn. DO NOT announce the hymn)

*SONG OF PRAISE: #482 (Blue Hymnal)

"Praise Ye the Lord, the Almighty"

(Lector only) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletins.

*COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR:

Lord God:
Forgive us for the challenges we've fled from,

rather than faced.
Forgive us for thinking so much of "the odds",
And so little of Your power and purposes.
Forgive us for thinking You exist to serve our purposes,
Instead of the other way around!
Seek us out, we pray.
Strengthen us, and send us forth to do Your will!
Amen

RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:

(Lector only)

God's power is made perfect in weakness, so we know He has great opportunities to work through us!  In the name of Jesus, we are forgiven!

APOSTLES' CREED

Please join me in declaring our faith using the traditional version of the Apostles' Creed printed on page 14 of the blue hymnal.

(Stay at lectern until Song of Gratitude is sung then move to congregation)
