ANNOUNCEMENTS

*PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

PREPARING OUR HEARTS AND MINDS FOR WORSHIP

Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletin: (from Hebrews 12)
Leader
:  "Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,
People:  Let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely,
Leader:
And let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us,
People:  Looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfector of our faith,
Leader
:  Who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame,
People:  And has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God."

(After reciting the Response, indicate with your hands for the congregation to stand for the first hymn. DO NOT announce the hymn.)

*SONGS OF PRAISE AND WORSHIP: #97 (Red Hymnal)

"All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name"

(Lector Only) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletin.

**COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR

Lord God:
Forgive us for the "consumer mentality"

we too often bring to worship.
We complain of "not getting much" out of worship,
forgetting that our calling is to give You praise,
and the sacrifice of a life well lived.
In the giving of our praise
and the stewardship of our lives
may we discover how much we receive
through giving!
Amen

RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:

(Lector Only)

May the God of mercy, who forgives us all our sins, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life.
