ANNOUNCEMENTS

*PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

PREPARING OUR HEARTS AND MINDS FOR WORSHIP

Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletin: (From Psalm 130)
Leader
:  "I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
People:  And in his word I hope;
Leader
:  My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning,
People:  More than those who watch for the morning!
Leader
:  O Israel, hope in the Lord!  For with the Lord there is steadfast love,
People:  And with him is great power to redeem."

(After reciting the Response, indicate with your hands for the congregation to stand for the first hymn. DO NOT announce the hymn)

*SONG OF PRAISE #487 (Blue Hymnal)

"When Morning Gilds the Skies"

(Lector only) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletin.

**COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR

Lord,
We'd like to think that the problems of our world
are in no way our fault or responsibility!
"They started it, we only responded in kind, and
somebody should do something about it!"
Open our eyes to see our part in this world gone wrong!
Help us to focus not on our neighbor's speck,
but on the log obscuring our vision.
Create within us humble hearts,
and place a new Spirit within us!
Amen

RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:

(Lector only)

As the psalmist declares, If the Lord would keep count of our
iniquities, who could stand?  But there is forgiveness and hope in our Lord!

Please join me in declaring our faith using the traditional version of the Apostles' Creed printed on page 14 of the blue hymnal.

(Stay at lectern until Song of Gratitude is sung then move to congregation)
