GATHERING FOR WORSHIP
"Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them."
(Matthew 18:20)
ANNOUNCEMENTS
PREPARING OUR HEARTS AND MINDS FOR WORSHIP:
"Open My Eyes," Paul Taylor
RESPONSIVE WORDS OF WORSHIP: (from Psalm 24)
Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletins: (from Psalm 24)
Leader: The earth is the Lord's and all that is in it;
People: The world, and those who live in it.
Leader: Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
People: Those who have clean hands and pure hearts.
Leader: Let us come together to worship the Lord!
Please stand and sing our Songs of Praise to God #108 from Red Hymnal "Come, Christians, Join to Sing!"
Lector only: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletins.
*COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR:
We open our lips to praise you,
but we do not always open our hearts.
We stand near others in worship,
but may be hesitant to let them into our lives.
We have made ourselves too busy for relationships.
Forgive us for taking from our family of faith,
but not giving back.
Create within us deep love for one another,
That we may truly say "blessed be the tie that binds."
Amen
RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:
(Lector only)
Into a world of those standing apart from one another,
Jesus came. People united to send Him to the cross, but
from that cross Jesus proclaimed "Father, forgive them!"
In His forgiving love, we may be bound together!
We stand as forgiven people; turn to your neighbors with "The peace of Christ!"
Please remain standing as we affirm our faith, saying together the ecumenical version of the Nicene Creed on page 15 in the blue hymnal.
