(Lector Only) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletin.

Lord God:
Forgive us for times we've focused on outward things,
and missed the inward reality of Your truth and grace.
Forgive us for times we've been eager to criticize
and find fault with others,
Hoping to distract from our own failings

and shortcomings.
Forgive us for desiring mercy for ourselves,
but judgment for others.
Encourage us, Lord, to do unto others
as we would have them do unto us!
Amen.
