Preparing Our Hearts and Minds for Worship
Responsive Words of Worship (from Psalm 85)
Leader: Time and again, the Lord has restored the fortunes of his people.
People: Look upon us with favor, Lord, even today.
Leader: The Lord forgives the iniquity of his people, even reviving them so that they may rejoice.
People: Show us your steadfast love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation.
Leader: Surely salvation is at hand for those who fear him that his glory may dwell in the land.
People: We turn to You in our hearts, O God, trusting You to give what is good.
(Lector: Let us continue our praise with hymn #43, "Great Is Thy Faithfulness", found in your red hymnal.
Song of Praise # 43 (Red)
Coming Clean Before Our Creator
Faithful and Loving God,
We stand before You this morning
In awe of the many times you have forgiven our sins, and warmed by the countless times you have been good to us.
And we are painfully aware of our deep need yet again.
For we have lived carelessly this week,
forgetting Your ways.
We have spoken in haste and now regret our words.
We have acted in our own self-interest,
And short-changed someone else.
Have mercy upon us and forgive our wrongdoing.
Remind us this week to Whom we belong,
That we may reflect your kingdom to all who touch our lives.
For we ask in our Savior's Name. Amen.
Receiving Forgiveness
The mercy of the Lord
is from everlasting to everlasting.
I declare to you, in the name of Jesus Christ,
you are forgiven.
May the God of mercy,
who forgives you all your sins,
strengthen you in all goodness,
and by the power of the Holy Spirit
keep you in eternal life.
