GATHERING FOR WORSHIP

"Lead lives worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, as you bear fruit

in every good work, and as you grow in the knowledge of God."

(Colossians 1:10)

ANNOUNCEMENTS

PREPARING OUR HEARTS AND MINDS FOR WORSHIP:

"Larghetto"

*****

Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletins (from Psalm 82)

Leader: All the nations belong to the Lord, and His commands

People: "Give justice to the weak and the orphan,

Leader:  maintain the right of the lowly and the destitute,

People: Rescue the weak and the needy;

deliver them from the hand of the wicked."

Leader: Let us worship the God of justice and compassion!

Let us continue our praise with #466, "O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing" found in your Blue Hymnal,

(Lector only)

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletins.

*COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR:

Lord God:

Forgive us for times we have passed by those in need.

Forgive us for times we haven't seen the pain of others,

Because we have kept a "safe distance".

May the pain we suffer

Make us sensitive to the needs of others.

In serving others, may we see

Your face and feel your presence!

Amen

RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:

(Lector only)

What does the Lord require of us, but "to do justice,

to love kindness, and to walk humbly with our God."

As we live as God's children, we come to experience

His abundant forgiveness and mercy!

We stand now as forgiven people. Please turn and greet our neighbors with "The peace of Christ."

Please remain standing as we affirm our faith, saying together the traditional version of the Apostles' Creed on page 14 in the blue hymnal.
