PREPARING OUR HEARTS AND MINDS FOR WORSHIP
*****
Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletin: (From Psalm 20)
Leader: "Now I know that the Lord will help his anointed.
People: He will answer them from his holy heaven.
Leader: Some take pride in chariots, and some in horses.
People: But our pride is in the name of the Lord.
Leader: They will collapse and fall.
People: But we shall rise and stand upright."
(After reciting the Response, indicate with your hands for the congregation to stand for the first hymn. DO NOT announce the hymn)
*SONG OF PRAISE #293 (Blue Hymnal)
"This Is My Father's World"
(Lector only) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletin.
**COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR
Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus,
and by the power of the Spirit.
We know you as Forgiver,
and we ask for the forgiveness only You can give.
Forgive us for the days this week
we forgot to consider Your greatness.
Forgive us for filling our days
until we have no room for thoughts of You.
Save us from busyness and cleanse us from selfishness,
which crowds You out, and dulls our memories.
Revive our spirits to hunger for relationship with You.
For we ask all this in His name, Amen
RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:
