ANNOUNCEMENTS
*PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST
PREPARING OUR HEARTS AND MINDS FOR WORSHIP
****
Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletins (From Psalm
33)
Leader: "Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord,
People: The people whom he has chosen as his heritage.
Leader: Truly the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,
People: On those who hope in his steadfast love.
Leader: Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us,
People: Even as we hope in you."
(After the choir sings the introit, indicate with your hands for the congregation to stand for the first hymn. Do NOT announce the hymn.)
*SONG OF PRAISE: #341 (Blue Hymnal)
"Blessed Assurance, Jesus Is Mine!"
Lector only: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletins.
*COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR:
Lord God:
We try to achieve peace and security on our own,
But these gifts only come from you.
Forgive us for wanting all the details
Before we begin our journey.
We confess we want to be in control.
Yet we know true peace comes from dependence upon you.
Strengthen our faith this week,
We ask in Jesus' name. Amen
RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:
(Lector only)
The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting.
May the God of mercy,
who forgives all our sins,
strengthen us in all goodness,
and in the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life.
As forgiven people let us remain standing as we affirm our faith, saying together the traditional version of the Apostles' Creed on page 14 in the blue hymnal.
