GATHERING FOR WORSHIP

"All things came into being through him,

and without him not one thing came into being."  John 1:3

ANNOUNCEMENTS

*PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

ORGAN PRELUDE:

"Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah," arr Don Wyrtzen

*****

Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletin: (from Psalm 8)
Leader
:  Our Lord has set his glory above the heavens, and honors his people with his trust.
People:  O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Leader:  When we look at the work of God's hands all around us, we are awestruck that he cares for people like us.
People:  O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

(After reciting the Response, indicate with your hands for the congregation to stand for the first hymn. DO NOT announce the hymn)

*SONG OF PRAISE: #4 (Red Hymnal) "How Great Thou Art"

(Lector only) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletins.

*COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR:

O Lord, our God,
We confess our sins and weaknesses before you.
We acknowledge you with our lips as creator of all,
Yet become prideful when something

we've had a hand in, turns out well!
We declare our belief in Christ as Savior,
But put our faith in weapons

and inventions we have devised.
We celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit,
But seek to live by our own wisdom and power.
Forgive us, Lord, and
Through the power of the Holy Trinity
Create in us pure hearts and a right spirit.
Amen.

RECEIVING FORGIVENESS: (Lector only)

God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit promises
to forgive and strengthen us for service in his kingdom!
