"Beginning with Moses and all the prophets, [Jesus] interpreted to them
the things about himself in all the scriptures." (Luke 24:27)
ANNOUNCEMENTS
*PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST
PREPARING OUR HEARTS AND MINDS FOR WORSHIP:
"A Mother's Prayer," Franklin Ritter
Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletins (from Psalm
68):
Leader: "Let the righteous be joyful
People: Let them be jubilant with joy.
Leader: Sing to God, sing praises to his name;
People: Lift up a song to him who rides upon the clouds.
Leader: God gives the desolate a home to live in;
People: But the rebellious live in a parched land."
All: Let us worship God!
CHORAL INTROIT: "Praise the Lord," Boyd Bacon
*SONG OF PRAISE #560 (Red Hymnal)
"For the Beauty of the Earth"
(After the choir sings the introit, indicate with your hands for the congregation to stand for the first hymn. Do NOT announce the hymn.)
(Lector only) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletins.
*COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR:
Loving God,
How easily our hearts wander from You!
We delight in the seasons, and neglect their Creator.
We want the sun on our faces,
yet ignore the face of your Son.
We relish a spring breeze,
but resist the wind of your Spirit!
Refresh us with your living water,
And feed us with Christ, the bread of life!
Amen
RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:
(Lector only)
Jesus cannot make a new creation of one who is
clinging to his old ways. Yet for those who truly
seek, they will find, to those who knock,
the door will be opened!
Please remain standing as we affirm our faith, saying together the traditional version of the Apostle's Creed on page 14 in the blue hymnal.
