ANNOUNCEMENTS

*PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

CHORAL INTROIT:

"Let's Prepare," John D Hedges/arr Lynn Kennedy

****

Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletin: (from Revelation 7:15-17)
Leader
:  "They are before the throne of God, and worship him day and night within his temple,
People: And the one who is seated on the throne will shelter them.
Leader
: They will hunger no more, and thirst no more;
People: The sun will not strike them, nor any scorching heat;
Leader
: For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of the water of life,
People: And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

(After reciting the Response, indicate with your hands for the congregation to stand for the first hymn. DO NOT announce the hymn.)

*SONGS OF PRAISE AND WORSHIP:

(Red Hymnal) Lance Scholtes

#282 "The Family of God;" #107 "Let's Just Praise the Lord;"

#102 "There's Something About That Name;" #213 "Because He Lives" (chorus only)

(Lector Only) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletin.

**COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR

Lord God:
Forgive us for believing we could take care of ourselves,
and didn't need you as our shepherd,
For getting caught up in rushing streams
Instead of resting beside your still waters.
For being drawn to astroturf,
Instead of green pastures.
We think security lights can be a substitute
For your presence on dark nights.
We trust our stock portfolio instead of seeking
Your daily bread.
Turn us about, Lord, that we may seek
To dwell in the house of the Lord
Our whole life long!
Amen.

RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:

(Lector Only)

When the Lord is our shepherd, we will not want. He will anoint our wounded spirits with the oil of his mercy and forgiveness, and we may dwell with Him forever!

MODERN AFFIRMATION

Please join me in declaring our faith using the Modern Affirmation found on the insert in your bulletin ~

We believe in God the Father,

infinite in wisdom, power, and love,

whose mercy is over all his works

and whose will is ever directed to his children's good.

We believe in Jesus Christ,

Son of God and Son of man,

the gift of the Father's unfailing grace,

the ground of our hope,

and the promise of our deliverance from sin and death.

We believe in the Holy Spirit

as the divine presence in our lives,

whereby we are kept in perpetual remembrance

of the truth of Christ,

and find strength and help in time of need.

We believe that this faith should manifest itself

in the service of love

as set forth in the example of our blessed Lord,

to the end that the kingdom of God may come upon

the earth.

Amen.
