GATHERING FOR WORSHIP

"The Most High does not dwell in houses

made with human hands..."  Acts 7:48

ANNOUNCEMENTS

*PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

PREPARING OUR HEARTS AND MINDS FOR WORSHIP:

"Rock of Ages," Peter Benjamin

*****

Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletins WORSHIP (from Isaiah 66):
Leader
: "Thus says the Lord: 'Heaven is my throne
People:  And the earth is my footstool;
Leader
:  What is the house that you would build for me,
People:  And what is my resting place?
Leader
:  But this is the one to whom I will look,
People:  To the humble and contrite in spirit, who trembles at my word.'"

CHORAL INTROIT: "Praise the Lord," Boyd Bacon

(After the choir sings the introit, indicate with your hands for the congregation to stand for the first hymn. Do NOT announce the hymn.)

*SONG OF PRAISE #276 (Red Hymnal)

"Christ is Made the Sure Foundation"

(Lector only) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletins.

*COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR:

Merciful God,
Like fools we have built our houses on sand,
And seen everything come tumbling down,
When the storms of life threaten us.
Remind us that unless we build upon Christ, the solid rock,
We will fall.
Lay firm foundations of faith within us!
Amen

RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:

(Lector only)

Jesus cannot make a new creation of one who is
clinging to his old ways.  Yet for those who truly
seek, they will find, to those who knock, the door
will be opened!

Please remain standing as we affirm our faith, saying together the traditional version of the Apostle's Creed on page 14 in the blue hymnal.
