(Lector Only) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletin.

Gracious God;

We fail in many ways to keep our vows;

We promise you we will do better;

We promise ourselves we will do better;

Yet we continue to fall short in keeping our promises.

Perhaps we are depending on our own strength,

While we shut you out of our lives.

Open our eyes to see our errors, and

Open our hearts to receive your will.

Guide our feet to follow you to eternal forgiveness.
