GATHERING FOR WORSHIP

"Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit."  John 12:24

ANNOUNCEMENTS

*PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

CHORAL INTROIT:

"The Lord Is in His Holy Temple," Lloyd Larson

Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletin (From Psalm 119:10-12)
Leader
: "With my whole heart I seek you;
People:  Do not let me stray from your commandments.
Leader
:  I treasure your word in my heart,
People:  So that I may not sin against you.
Leader
:  Blessed are you, O Lord;
People:  Teach me your statutes!"

(After reciting the Response, indicate with your hands for the congregation to stand for the first hymn. DO NOT announce the hymn)

*SONG OF PRAISE: #97 (Red Hymnal)

"All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name"

(Lector only) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletins.

*COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR:

Eternal God,
We look forward to the day

when all know You and obey Your laws.
Yet we confess we have been hesitant

to share the Good News
Of Your forgiving love with others.
We have been timid with Your truth.
By the power of Your Spirit, make us instruments
In hastening the day when every knee shall bow
And every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!
Amen

RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:

(Lector only)

When we come to God with humble and contrite hearts,

He forgives us and hides us in His love.

In Christ Jesus we are forgiven!

(Stay at lectern until Song of Gratitude is sung then move to congregation)
