GATHERING FOR WORSHIP
"As he was now approaching the path down from the Mount of Olives,
the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully
with a loud voice for all the deeds of power that they had seen, saying
'Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!'" Luke 19:37-38
ANNOUNCEMENTS
*PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST
CHORAL INTROIT:
"Let's Prepare," John D Hedges/arr Lynn Kennedy
Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletin: (Psalm 118)
Leader: "This is the day that the Lord has made;
People: Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Leader: Save us, we beseech you, O Lord!
People: O Lord, we beseech you, give us success!
Leader: Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.
People: We bless you from the house of the Lord.
Leader: O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
People: For his steadfast love endures forever!"
(After reciting the Response, indicate with your hands for the congregation to stand for the first hymn. DO NOT announce the hymn)
*SONG OF PRAISE: #88 (Blue Hymnal)
"All Glory, Laud, and Honor"
(Lector only) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletins.
*COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR:
Our God and King,
Too often we call upon you to fulfill our desires,
When we should seek to know and do your will.
Forgive our casual approach to the sacrifice
Christ made on our behalf.
Remind us we were created for your purposes,
And redeemed to live them out.
Let our lives reflect the saving power of Jesus
During this Holy Week!
Amen
RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:
(Lector only)
Hear the Good News!
The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance,
that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.
He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross,
that we might be dead to sin and alive to all that is good.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!
