GATHERING FOR WORSHIP

"We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works..."

(Ephesians 2:10)

ANNOUNCEMENTS

PREPARING OUR HEARTS AND MINDS FOR WORSHIP:

"Serving Jesus", James Mansfield

RESPONSIVE WORDS OF WORSHIP: (from Psalm 139, Isaiah 6)

Leader: We have a glorious God, who made each of us for his purpose.

People: We praise you, Lord, for we are fearfully and wonderfully made and marvelous are the works of your hands.

Leader: God allows tests and trials to come to us, to render us as gold refined by fire.

People: As Isaiah's lips were touched by an angel, sent with a fiery coal, so our own lives must be cleansed in new and dramatic ways.

Leader: The time has come for God's people to present themselves for service.

People: Like Isaiah of long ago, let us say to our holy God with all our hearts, "Here I am; send me!"

*SONG OF PRAISE #293 (Red Hymnal)

"Rise Up, O Church of God!"

*COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR:

Mighty God,

We lift our voices this morning,

Declaring our desire to serve with strength.

Before this morning, we have too often served

out of duty, instead of joy.

We have rejected ministries we thought too small for others to notice,

Or we have shunned opportunities that seemed to ask for too much.

Forgive us, Lord, for you have gifted us with much,

And ask for little in return.

Forgive us when we have been deaf to your call,

And rejected your claim.

Call us yet again, that we might live differently,

Serving You with joy,

Seeking ministry to others,

Committing to the future You have designed.

For we ask all these things in Our Savior's name. Amen.
