CHORAL INTROIT:
"Let's Prepare," John D Hedges/arr Lynn Kennedy
Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletin: (from Psalm 32)
Leader: "Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven,
People: Whose sin is covered.
Leader: Happy are those to whom the Lord imputes no iniquity,
People: And in whose spirit there is no deceit.
Leader: Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, O righteous,
People: And shout for joy, all you upright in heart."
*SONG OF PRAISE AND WORSHIP: #493 (Red Hymnal)
"It Is Well with My Soul"
(Lector Only) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletin.
**COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR
Lord God:
When we know we have done wrong,
we often try to convince others
and ourselves that we're "fine".
But day and night, as the psalmist said,
Your hand is heavy upon us,
and our strength is dried up.
When we acknowledge our sin to you,
even though we can't take back what we've done,
You forgive the guilt of our sin.
Hear us now as we silently confess a sin before you:
(Lector: pause for 30 seconds; silent prayer)
We thank you, Lord,
that we must not bear the burden of our sin.
RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:
(Lector Only)
Many are the torments of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds those who trust in the Lord. In Christ, we find forgiveness!
