GATHERING FOR WORSHIP

"Take your everyday, ordinary life--your sleeping, eating, going to
work, and walking-around life--and place it before God as an offering."
(Romans 12:1, The Message)

ANNOUNCEMENTS

*PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

PREPARING OUR HEARTS AND MINDS FOR WORSHIP:

"Ever Faithful, Ever Near," Franklin Ritter

*****

Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletins: (from Psalm 95):
Leader:
"O come, let us sing to the Lord;
People:  Let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
Leader:
O come, let us worship and bow down,
People:  Let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!
Leader:
  For he is our God,
People:  And we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand."

(After the choir sings the introit, indicate with your hands for the congregation to stand for the first hymn. Do NOT announce the hymn.)

CHORAL INTROIT: "Praise the Lord," Boyd Bacon

*SONG OF PRAISE #106 (Red Hymnal)

"Praise Him! Praise Him!"

(Lector only) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletins.

*COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR:

Gracious God:
We confess that we are often more interested
in a nice cold drink,
than in receiving Living Water.
We have enjoyed meals at the Old Richmond Inn,
but declined the Bread of Life.
We'll travel far to see the ocean,
yet we often neglect the shorter journey to you.
Forgive us for neglecting what you provide,
and ignoring the loving relationship you offer.
Humble and restore us,
For the sake of your son, Jesus Christ.
Amen

RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:

(Lector only)

Jesus cannot make a new creation of one who is
clinging to his old ways.  Yet for those who truly
seek, they will find, to those who knock, the door
will be opened!

Please remain standing as we affirm our faith, saying together the traditional version of the Apostle's Creed on page 14 in the blue hymnal.
