GATHERING FOR WORSHIP
[Jesus] said to him "Do you want to be made well?" (John 5:6)
ANNOUNCEMENTS
*PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST
PRELUDE
Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletin: (From Psalm 1)
Leader: "Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the
wicked,
People: Or take the path that sinners tread,
Leader: Or sit in the seat of scoffers;
People: But their delight is in the law of the Lord,
Leader: And on his law they meditate day and night.
People: They are like trees planted by streams of water,
Leader: Which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither.
People: In all that they do, they prosper."
(After reciting the Response, indicate with your hands for the congregation to stand for the first hymn. DO NOT announce the hymn.)
*SONG OF PRAISE AND WORSHIP: #106 (Red Hymnal)
"Praise Him! Praise Him!"
(Lector Only) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletin.
**COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR
Merciful God,
Our sins have become heavy to carry.
We'd like to think we've hidden them well,
But we're sinking beneath the burden!
Forgive us our sin, and banish our pride.
Help us to come clean before you,
not just on the outside, but within.
Restore to us the joy of your salvation!
Amen.
RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:
(Lector Only)
Hear the Good News!
The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance,
that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.
In the name of Christ, we are forgiven
