SCOUT SUNDAY

96th Anniversary of Scouting

GATHERING FOR WORSHIP

"The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ."  John 1:17

ANNOUNCEMENTS

*PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

(Lector only)

Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletin (From Psalm 147)
Leader
: How good it is to sing praises to our God;
People:  For he is gracious, and a song of praise is fitting.
Leader
:  He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds.
People: He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names.
Leader
:  His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the speed of a runner.
People:  But the Lord takes pleasure in those... who hope in his steadfast love."

(After reciting the Response, indicate with your hands for the congregation to stand for the first hymn. DO NOT announce the hymn)

*SONG OF PRAISE: #274 (Blue Hymnal)

"O God of Earth and Space"

(Lector only) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletins.

*COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR:

Gracious God,
We come into Your presence,
conscious of our sin, needing a time of confession.
Forgive us for remaining silent

when another was slandered,
ignoring Your prompting to meet another's need,
refusing to see another's grief or pain.
Forgive us for closed mouths,

closed wallets and closed hearts.
Forgive us for insisting on our own way,
and keeping records of others' wrongs,
while we justify our own.
Come among us with your healing presence.
Touch every heart, mind and spirit
out of Your great mercy!
Grant us forgiveness in Jesus' name, Amen

RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:

(Lector only)

When we come to God with humble and contrite hearts, He forgives us and hides us in His love.  In Christ Jesus we are forgiven!
