GATHERING FOR WORSHIP

"If for this life only we have hoped in Christ,

we are of all people most to be pitied."  (I Cor. 15:19)

ANNOUNCEMENTS

PREPARING OUR HEARTS AND MINDS FOR WORSHIP:

"Lyric Echoes," Steven Scott

****

Please join me in praising the Lord using the Response printed in your bulletins: (from Psalm 27)
Leader
: "The Lord is my light and my salvation;
People:  Whom shall I fear?
Leader
:  The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
People:  Of whom shall I be afraid?
Leader
:  One thing I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after:
People:  To live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life."

(After the choir sings the introit, indicate with your hands for the congregation to stand for the first hymn. Do NOT announce the hymn.)

*SONG OF PRAISE #150 (Blue Hymnal)

"Come, Christians, Join to Sing"

Lector only: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God, using the prayer printed in your bulletins.

*COMING CLEAN BEFORE OUR CREATOR:

Forgive us, Lord, when we grow weak in faith;
When we see the good suffer, and our hearts grow faint;
When one problem seems to rise up after another;
When we lose heart and hope, and even our trust in You!
Do not give us over to the will of our adversaries.
You are our only true hope,
Do not surrender us to the dark night of despair.
  Amen

RECEIVING FORGIVENESS:

(Lector only)

The Lord is merciful to those whose hearts grow faint, yet
turn to Him. Even though hope forsakes us, when we turn
to the Lord, there is constant mercy.  In Christ, we
find forgiveness!

We stand as forgiven people; turn to your neighbors with "The peace of Christ!"

Please remain standing as we affirm our faith, saying together the traditional version of the Apostle's Creed on page 14 in the blue hymnal.
